Privacy policy for the PlayStore app: HHS Studenten Info
What sensitive data is used in the app?
Your login information from The Hague University of Applied Science network. This username and password combination is saved in the private storage section of the android app.
The password is encrypted and only the this app can access the data saved in this private location.
All other user information visible in the app is downloaded directly from the HHS network and cached on the device to be able to show the information quickly.
What do we collect?
Absolutely nothing. No custom statistics or information logging. No third-party plugins. Only default Google PlayStore app crash reports (more about this in the next chapter).
The data you enter or generate using the app is saved on the device and will stay there till you remove the app from your device or clear the cache. None of this data leaves the device at any point in time.
What does Google automatically collect when you download the app?
The Google PlayStore automatically logs a few things when you download the app.
This information includes the following:
- Did you download it and installed it?
- Do you still have it installed?
- You removed the app from your device.
- Did the app crash or freeze during normal operation?
- App crash Stacktrace information:
- Device model name (example: Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra)
- Android OS version (example: Android 12)
- Crash information of the application (Example: Exception in method Refresh() on line 22: Devision by zero)
What do the used permissions mean?
There are only non-invasive permissions used in this app. These permissions can be used by any app (not just this app) without the explicit consent of the user.
These permissions are:
- android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Detection for when you turn off your wifi during the downloading process of a timetable
- android.permission.INTERNET: This app obviously need to connect to the HHS network to donwload timetables, grades, campuscard info etc.
- android.permission.WAKE_LOCK: To keep the communication alive between the app and a smartwatch
- com.android.vending.BILLING: upcomming feature to be able to donate money to support this project.
